Donald Trump Offers Severance For All Federal Employees To Resign

President Trump Sends Memo To Federal Employees Offering Severance

In a surprise move, Donald Trump’s administration has decided to send out a memo to all federal government employees giving them the offer to resign from their position with an eight-month severance if they don’t want to return to the office as required by the new Trump administration. They will have the option to take up this offer until February 6, after which the severance offer will expire and any employees who don’t report to the office as required will be fired without the same benefits.

“If you choose not to continue in your current role in the federal workforce, we thank you for your service to your country and you will be provided with a dignified, fair departure from the federal deferred resignation program,” the memo sent to all the federal employees reads. The memo was titled “Fork in the Road”, detailing how they can receive benefits until September if they choose to resign by the deadline.

It was just last week when the Trump administration handed down a new order for federal employees to return to the office instead of being able to work from home, as has become common since the 2020 pandemic panic. Donald Trump and his allies allege that the Biden administration allowed many employees to abuse the “work from home” system and never forced them to get back to working in the office (which was customary for the vast majority of positions.)

“The government-wide email being sent today is to make sure that all federal workers are on board with the new administration’s plan to have federal employees in office and adhering to higher standards. We’re five years past COVID and just 6 percent of federal employees work full-time in office. That is unacceptable,” one administration official had to share with reporters.

Any federal employees who will agree to the severance will “promptly have their duties re-assigned or eliminated and be placed on paid administrative leave until the end of the deferred resignation period,” according to Mr. Charles Ezell, who is the current director of the Office of Personnel Management within the Trump administration.

The Trump White House has said that they are expecting around 5% to 10% of federal employees to accept the offer, adding that the offer is not being extended to military personnel for obvious security reasons. The Postal Service, immigration law officials, and any national security officials are not being sent the offer either. The offer was also only sent to full-time federal employees and not contractors or part-time employees.

Trump Admin Seeking Overhaul Of Entire Federal Government

One of the criticisms of Donald Trump’s first term from his own support base is that they simply didn’t accomplish enough to gut the “Swamp” in Washington, D.C. and the federal government in general. Many supporters lay the blame at the feet of the federal officials who fill the government and don’t want to cooperate with the agenda of the mover and shaker like Donald Trump.

In the second Trump administration, the goal is to gut as many of the corrupt officials who have life-long posts and can remain a speed bump for the reform agendas of the new Trump team. The Trump admin would like to replace these officials with more outsiders, which has been an emphasis for Donald Trump and his transition team all along, as evidenced by the many outsider nominations for important cabinet positions.

Many of the nominations for critical cabinet positions have been causing controversy in the Washington, D.C. circuit, including Pete Hegseth to the role of Secretary of Defense, RFK Jr. to the role of heading up the Department of Health and Human Services, and Tulsi Gabbard to the role of Director of National Intelligence. These nominations alone made it clear that Donald Trump is not looking to surround himself with “insiders” anymore.

And now there’s a real emphasis to reform the entire federal government for a real long-term view of protecting the nation from Washington, D.C. corrupt officials. Stephen Miller, the current White House chief of staff for policy issues, has said that the federal employees are “overwhelmingly” far-Left and said that it was “essential” for the current Trump administration to bring some sanity back to the federal government.

What do you think of the effort to replace federal employees if they refuse to return back to the office? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

If employees argue about actually working (like a job and stuff), then American Taxpayers want them gone! Our government’s inefficiency is legendary!
Most Americans don’t enjoy lifetime tenure, and OUR employees must earn their position as well. The shocker is the switch to merit-based hiring! Your sexual aberrations and skin pigmentation are no longer qualifications to be part of the world’s greatest administration!
Your ability to be “the best” at your job is your ONLY guarantee of continued employment. This is in line with MOST people’s working lives. Top of the game, or move along.

As a former Civil servant for 42 years I KNOW that the government hires to “fill a square” regardless if the person can actually DO THE JOB! They would hire by the color of your skin and NOT for your abilities. This is what caused a lot of the problems that the swamp has created. I’m. For getting rid of the old logs and revamping the Government.
