One of the major gripes about the federal government is the presence of red tape. This red tape is usually placed by government bureaucrats who slow things down by getting caught up in pointless procedural issues. And when the government runs slow, the American people as a result suffer. Red tape isn’t just placed so government officials can do things by the book just for the sake of it. It’s sometimes placed in order to slow down a political opponent from achieving their goals.
If bureaucrats were removed from the federal government, it’s obvious that things would be accomplished a whole lot quicker than they are right now. It’s what countless Americans want and it’s what many ambitious politicians want. They want to be able to waltz into Congress and easily pass a bill that will help their constituents. But thanks to red tape, that isn’t always the case.
When the American electorate overwhelmingly vote in a candidate for high office in the federal government – like the American people did with Donald Trump this past November – they set a mandate that they want that newly elected official to go into Washington, D.C. and initiate real change on their behalf. U.S. citizens are tired of pointless government procedures getting in the way of that change being implemented.
But the newly elected Trump administration is dead set on solving this crisis. According to Vice President JD Vance, the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) aims to cut much of the red tape we see in Washington, D.C. to pieces. This in turn will help assist President Donald Trump in setting forth his agenda which the majority of the American people supported in the 2024 elections.
Cutting Red Tape: DOGE’s Main Goal According To Vice President Vance
In a Wednesday interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Vice President JD Vance hailed the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as a game-changing initiative aimed at streamlining the federal government. While cost-cutting is a major priority, Vance emphasized that DOGE’s most significant contribution will be eliminating bureaucratic obstacles that hinder President Trump’s ability to act swiftly on behalf of the American people.
“DOGE is going to save money, it has already identified a lot of cost savings,” Vance noted, highlighting the initiative’s early success in slashing unnecessary expenditures. The department, led by tech mogul Elon Musk, has wasted no time in identifying areas of government waste just weeks into Trump’s second term. However, according to the vice president, the financial savings, while substantial, are not DOGE’s greatest achievement. “The most important thing that it’s going to do, I don’t even think it’s the cost savings, it’s making the bureaucracy responsive to the elected president,” Vance stated.
One of DOGE’s early victories came when it halted millions in federal funds that were about to be transferred in defiance of a Trump executive order. “DOGE has identified grants that were going to be made in violation of an executive order and stopped them right before the money was wired,” Vance revealed. “We’re talking about making the people’s government responsive to the people’s elected president.” Reports indicate that the funds in question amounted to $37 million earmarked for the World Health Organization (WHO), despite Trump’s directive to sever financial ties with the organization.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that DOGE, in collaboration with the Office of Management and Budget, uncovered the attempted transfer and intervened in time. But beyond financial oversight, Vance believes DOGE will play a crucial role in fostering innovation and economic growth. By dismantling layers of unaccountable bureaucracy, he argued, the initiative will create an environment that allows industries to thrive.
“We’re going to get it off and we’re going to actually make it responsive to our economic growth needs, to our needs to buy the right weapons for the next generation of warfare,” he said. “And I think that is the most profound thing that DOGE is going to do.” The department has ambitious goals, aiming to slash up to $500 billion in wasteful spending in the departments of the executive branch. Trump likened DOGE’s mission to the Manhattan Project and echoed Musk’s assertion that the initiative will send “shockwaves through the system” and shake up Washington’s entrenched inefficiencies.

With its aggressive cost-cutting measures and a mandate to reform government operations, DOGE is positioning itself as a central pillar of Trump’s second-term agenda. And if DOGE is able to accomplish the things that they’ve promised the American people, then this could end up being one of the greatest programs a presidential administration has created in modern times. Just think of all the unnecessary red tape that could be cut to pieces because of the efforts of DOGE. Millions upon millions of U.S. citizens would benefit because President Trump would have greater ease in pushing forth his policies and agenda.
This goes for not only President Trump, but any president in the future that Americans overwhelmingly elect into office. The government works for the citizens of the United States, not the other way around. And when bureaucrats have such a prominent role, that is not a government that works for the people. And that’s something DOGE is looking to crack down on during their operation under Donald Trump’s four year term. No matter if you’re Republican or Democrat, an efficient and fast-moving government is something almost everyone can agree on.
Are you anxious to see if DOGE can really cut up useless red tape in the federal government? Do you think things would run smoother if they accomplish this? As always, let us know down in the comments what you think!
Yes the people with the red tape are not elected and should not be making laws
