California Democrats Advance Bill That Helps Kids Identify As Non-Binary

The government has no place meddling in the relationship between parents and their children. Parents know their kids better than any bureaucrat ever could. Yet, in California, a disturbing trend is taking shape, where the state is inching closer to overriding parental authority, claiming it knows best.

This isn’t about protecting kids; it’s about control. When the government inserts itself into family decisions, it threatens the very foundation of personal freedom. Every parent should have the right to raise their child according to their values, free from state interference.

This overreach isn’t hypothetical—it’s happening now. Laws like Assembly Bill 1084 are poised to erode parental rights, handing over monumental decisions about a child’s identity to strangers appointed by the courts. Such policies send a clear message: the state believes it can parent better than you. This is a dangerous precedent, one that could spread to other states, undermining families everywhere.

The fight to protect parental rights is crucial. Parents must be trusted to guide their children through complex issues, especially those tied to identity. Laws that undermine this trust don’t just hurt families but also weaken society in general.

California’s Assault on Parental Authority

Governor Gavin Newsom recently stumbled when asked if an eight-year-old is too young for transgender procedures. The question, posed during a podcast with Shawn Ryan, exposed a crack in Newsom’s carefully crafted image as a moderate, likely aimed at bolstering his 2028 presidential ambitions. Newsom once called California a beacon of parental rights, but his state’s legislature tells a different story.

This month, California lawmakers advanced Assembly Bill 1084, a measure that would allow court-appointed attorneys to help children change their name and s*x designation on their birth certificates, even to “non-binary.” Shockingly, this could happen without parental consent, even if parents retain custody. Authored by Assemblyman Rick Zbur, the bill is an attack on parents’ rights to guide their children.

Under this legislation, a child could claim abuse, true or not, and be assigned a lawyer trained to accept their gender identity claims without question. This attorney could then push to alter the child’s legal identity, sidelining parents entirely. The bill grants these court-appointed figures the power to change a child’s name, s*x, and birth certificate if a court deems it “is likely” the child will remain a ward of the state until 18. In effect, it transfers parental authority to strangers, leaving moms and dads powerless over decisions that shape their child’s life.

The Risks of Social Transition

Assembly Bill 1084 goes beyond paperwork. It enables social transition, a mental health intervention. But research shows that children affirmed in these identities are more likely to persist in rejecting their biological reality, potentially leading to irreversible medical choices later. By allowing strangers to facilitate this process, the bill risks setting kids on a path with lifelong consequences, all without parental input.

Parents who challenge these changes face steep obstacles. The bill explicitly states that objections “based solely on concerns that the proposed change is not the petitioner’s actual gender identity or gender assigned at birth shall not constitute good cause.” In plain terms, if a parent believes in their child’s biological reality—the body they’ve known since birth—their objection is dismissed. This isn’t just a legal barrier; it’s a direct attack on a parent’s right to raise their child according to their values and truth.

A Constitutional Violation

This bill isn’t just bad policy—it’s unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has long upheld parents’ fundamental right to raise their children, a principle reaffirmed in Mahmoud v. Taylor. A century ago, in Pierce v. The Society of Sisters, the Court declared, “The child is not the mere creature of the State.” Assembly Bill 1084 defies this by treating kids as state property, subject to the whims of court-appointed advocates. It also violates the First Amendment by dismissing parents’ beliefs that s*x can’t be changed, effectively punishing them for their worldview.

Zbur has labeled the bill an “urgency bill,” meaning it would be put into motion immediately if Newsom signs it. If passed, birth certificates could become unreliable, as anyone in California could petition to change their recorded s*x with little resistance.

With the Democrat-controlled legislature likely to pass Assembly Bill 1084, it’s expected to reach Newsom’s desk in the near future. This will test the governor’s claim to support parental rights. Will he stand by families, or sign a law that strips parents of authority over their children’s identities?

If those ….. people ever leave California for any part of the REAL United States with their families, their children should be taken from them and given to the Children and Families of any state to be rase as “NORMAL” children and they should lose their parental rights and the privilege to even see their kids, as they want to do it to someone else’s children

How do so many ignorant people get elected to public office in the first place? It pretty much tells us that the population of California consists mainly of stupid people. That state can’t fall into the ocean fast enough as far as I’m concerned.
