It’s well known that Kamala Harris has been staying away from the press as much as possible ever since she was made the de facto Democrat nominee in late July. There’s one CNN interview alongside Tim Walz that she can point to with just a month and change to go before Americans vote on November 5.

You would think she would want to make up for lost time, but the opposite has been true. She’s more afraid of cameras than a corrupt Louisiana politician taking a mug shot for a DUI.

In fact, she’s so afraid of the cameras that there are reports that she is on pace to make the fewest interviews of any presidential candidate during the general election season in modern American history. The Democrat-friendly outlet, Axios, is even admitting this themselves with a bombshell report.

According to Axios, since July 21, Donald Trump has provided 14 TV and print interviews. His running mate J.D. Vance has given an eye-watering 59 interviews to TV and print outlets. On the other side of the race, Harris has provided just three. Tim Walz has provided just four.

Tally these up and between Donald Trump and J.D. Vance they have a combined 73 interviews with TV and print outlets. While the Harris-Walz ticket has an anemic 7. So the Trump-Vance ticket has been outpacing their opponents in press interviews by a magnitude of ten.

This does not include all of the appearances with independent media outlets that Donald Trump has been making. Several weeks ago, Donald Trump appeared on a podcast episode with an extremely popular figure known as Theo Von. Donald Trump’s episode with Theo Von has about thirteen million views at the time of writing this article.

About two weeks ago, Donald Trump also gave an interview to a Mr. Lex Fridman, another popular YouTuber. The video of their conversation has about five million views at the time of writing. These numbers clearly indicate that Donald Trump is much more willing to get himself out there compared to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Worthy of note is that these independent media interviews Donald Trump is willing to provide are upwards of an hour long each. They are not edited at all, and he is not privy to what the podcasters want to talk about before he comes on their show. Sometimes they will just talk about non-political topics that anyone can relate to.

It’s extremely hard to imagine Kamala Harris and/or Tim Walz making any such appearances with independent media outlets who can’t control what happens in the interview. She appeared with CNN and that interview of an hour long was cut down to just eighteen minutes and the American people don’t get to see the rest of the footage.

The Real Reason Kamala Harris Avoids Interviews

It’s right to point out that Kamala Harris doesn’t want to have too many unscripted moments on camera ahead of the election, but that’s not the real reason she’s avoiding interviews this general election season. The real reason is that she doesn’t even think she has to, so she won’t.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have both made claims about the free press and the First Amendment that show just how much they disdain media sources they can’t control. As we’ve noted here on the Silent Majority Report many times, Tim Walz literally tried to suggest that the First Amendment does not and should not include protection for speech containing “misinformation,” which it does and it should.

This is a level of disdain for the free press that Americans have not seen in the modern era of Presidential elections. If Kamala Harris and Tim Walz had their druthers, they could completely shutdown any outlet that provides a platform for Donald Trump to share his policies on the basis that Trump is peddling so-called “lies” and “misinformation.”

We all saw this on display the way that ABC would attempt to fact check Donald Trump in realtime during the debate, while Kamala Harris was allowed to claim whatever she wants without any real pushback whatsoever. They even tried to corner Donald Trump on whether he was being sarcastic in another interview like he claimed he was. That’s not fact checking, that’s entering the debate itself.

Regardless of political background, any American should see the way Kamala Harris is avoiding the free press and be concerned that she’s hiding something. She can stage her very few moments on camera so that she can disavow all of her policies she’s believed in for years and years, like gun confiscation and free healthcare for illegal immigrants, but she doesn’t have to hide and lie about the truth of what she believes in if she becomes President.
