CBS News Lashes Out Over Allegations That It Edited An Interview With Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris recently went on CBS News’s 60 Minutes for an interview. Unfortunately for her, the interview was a disaster and showed Harris’s inability to answer meaningful questions regarding her campaign and her policy proposals.

One of her answers was so bad that CBS News edited it. When host Bill Whitaker asked Harris about why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t listening to the United States, the VP responded with a jumbled word salad. That response was edited during the airing of the interview to make Harris seem more coherent.

Former President Donald Trump expressed outrage at CBS News’s edit of Harris’s answer and demanded that legal ramifications be brought against the news outlet.

But now CBS News has come forward to suggest that this allegation is “false.”

CBS News Denies Edits To Harris 60 Minutes Interview

CBS News has refuted former President Donald Trump’s assertion that 60 Minutes edited its interview with Vice President Kamala Harris in a misleading way, calling the allegation “false” in a statement issued on Sunday.

After facing weeks of criticism surrounding the interview, CBS broke its silence with a statement addressing the controversy over airing two different versions of Harris’s response to the same question during the 60 Minutes segment earlier this month. The network clarified its editing process and defended the integrity of the broadcast.

“Former President Donald Trump is accusing ‘60 Minutes’ of deceitful editing of our Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false,” the CBS statement reads.

The network went on to explain that 60 Minutes had provided an excerpt from the interview to its sister program, Face the Nation, which aired a longer portion of Harris’s answer than what appeared in the original broadcast. “Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response,” the statement said, emphasizing that editing for clarity and brevity is a routine part of their production process. The network further explained that the shortened response allowed for more subjects to be covered in the 21-minute-long segment.

CBS also reminded the public that while Harris participated in the interview, Trump had backed out of his scheduled appearance. Despite this, CBS stated, “Our long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open. If he would like to discuss the issues facing the nation and the Harris interview, we would be happy to have him on ‘60 Minutes.’”

However, CBS has yet to release the unedited video or full transcript of the interview, prompting a response from the Trump campaign, which continued to press for the full release of Harris’s answers.

The Trump campaign accused CBS of admitting to what Trump had originally alleged. “’60 Minutes’ just admitted to doing exactly what President Trump accused them of doing,” the campaign’s statement read. “They edited in a different response – from another part of her answer – to make Kamala Harris sound less incoherent than she really was. Their statement is not a denial, it is an admission.” The campaign further criticized the program, calling it biased and praising Trump’s decision not to participate.

The controversy intensified when Trump himself called for the interview to be pulled during an appearance on Fox News earlier in the day. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” Trump said. “She gave a horrible, incompetent answer on a news program… They take the whole ridiculous answer out, and it was a long answer and replace it with a much shorter answer that you had to do with a totally different subject, which also didn’t make sense, but it wasn’t as incompetent.”

The backlash stems from a segment in which Harris responded to a question from Bill Whitaker about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s apparent disregard for U.S. diplomatic efforts. A longer version of Harris’s answer was aired on Face the Nation, while a more concise version was shown on 60 Minutes, which triggered conservative criticism and claims of bias.

In the wake of the interview, the Center for American Rights (CAR) lodged a formal complaint with the FCC, alleging that CBS’s actions constituted deliberate news distortion, a violation of broadcasters’ obligations under FCC rules.

Trump has since escalated his criticism, calling for CBS to lose its broadcasting license, claiming on Truth Social that the network’s actions amounted to “a giant Fake News Scam.” He accused CBS of altering Harris’s response to protect her from ridicule, labeling the situation “Election Interference” and “an unprecedented scandal.” Trump reiterated these claims during a speech at the Detroit Economic Club, where he predicted that the controversy would go down as “the single biggest scandal in broadcast history.”

Whether CBS will release the full transcript or unedited footage remains to be seen, as the debate over media bias and election coverage continues.

Should CBS News release the full transcript of the Kamala Harris 60 Minutes interview? Are they hiding something in the transcript and if so, what exactly are they hiding? Let us know in the comments below!

Yes it should be released unedited version. They are trying to make her look good since CBS is democratic’s like all of Hollywood. It’s unreal for how dishonest this looks!

Why would Trump participate in any interview with CBS or any other communist network when it’s known that they edit videos in an effort to hide the truth and to make left wing extremist appear favorable? What that produces is propaganda.
