Most on the Left and the Right would agree that under Joe Biden, a record number of illegal immigrants have poured over the border. While Democrats may claim it’s a humanitarian crisis that worsened, those on the Right would point to the Biden-Harris’ facilitation of skyrocketing numbers.

But one thing is undeniable, we are in unprecedented territory with no solutions being implemented by the Biden-Harris administration – whether it’s incompetence or not.

As we know, there have been over 8 million migrant encounters at the border, with the vast majority (6.7 million) at the southwest border. This alone would be staggering, but the numbers are worse than officially tallied. Why? Because the Biden-Harris administration are hiding it through making it legal.

According to a report released Thursday, nearly 1 million illegal immigrants have benefited from what the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration system has quietly granted as “amnesty.” The House Judiciary Committee, led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), found that over 700,000 cases of illegal migrants were either closed, dismissed, or terminated, allowing these individuals to stay in the country “indefinitely” without facing immigration penalties.

The report, coining this as “quiet amnesty,” highlights these findings amidst historic illegal immigration levels under the Biden-Harris administration. “For almost four years, Americans have watched as President Joe Biden and border czar Vice President Kamala Harris have abandoned the southwest border and welcomed nearly 8 million illegal aliens into the United States,” the committee stated.

“Through administrative maneuvering at both the Justice Department and [the Department of Homeland Security], the Biden-Harris administration has already ensured that nearly 1 million illegal aliens can remain in the United States without the possibility of deportation—and that trend shows no sign of stopping,” the report continues.

When an individual enters the U.S. illegally, they are typically put into “removal proceedings” and appear before one of about 700 immigration judges nationwide. However, the surge of foreign nationals seeking asylum has led to an enormous backlog, which has ballooned from 1.2 million cases at the end of the Trump-Pence administration to nearly 3.5 million cases by the end of fiscal year 2024 — a 175% spike.

The House report also cited that in fiscal year 2023, nearly 109,100 cases were marked as “not adjudicated,” meaning they were closed without ruling on the actual claims. This number soared to 109,568 in just the first nine months of fiscal year 2024, already surpassing the prior year.

For context, between fiscal years 2017 to 2020, only 12,960 asylum cases were marked “not adjudicated.” The Biden-Harris administration has also failed to file required paperwork to begin deportation proceedings for about 200,000 cases, with the “overwhelming majority” of these migrants staying indefinitely.

The House report concludes, “Instead of actually adjudicating illegal aliens’ cases based on the merits of aliens’ claims for relief… immigration judges under the Biden-Harris administration have been tasked with rubber-stamping case dismissals, case closures, and case terminations, all of which allow illegal aliens to remain in the United States without immigration consequences.”

“This sort of quiet amnesty has become a staple of the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration courts,” it says.

The Department of Justice, overseeing the immigration courts, declined to comment on these findings.
