Democrat caught assaulting a police officer

Chaos erupted inside the Tennessee State Capitol on Thursday when a Democratic state representative lost control and physically assaulted a law enforcement officer.

As tensions boiled over during a special session to pass new congressional district lines, Rep. Justin Pearson showed the public exactly what desperate power politics looks

In footage gathered by WKRN, Pearson aggressively stepped into a situation involving state troopers and shoved one officer’s arm away. Without hesitation, he screamed directly into the trooper’s face.

“Move the f*ck back!” Pearson yelled.

The confrontation didn’t stop there. Pearson continued his verbal assault and called the officer “boy” before launching into a full meltdown.

“What the f*ck is wrong with you? What the f*ck is wrong with you? You stupid motherf*cker!” Pearson shouted.

Pearson has built a reputation for fiery outbursts against the state’s conservative leadership and a habit of changing his public image to suit the moment.

This latest episode came as lawmakers worked to finalize maps backed by Republicans following a clear directive from the U.S. Supreme Court.

The high court had struck down previous boundaries, ruling that some districts drawn under the Voting Rights Act crossed into racial gerrymandering that’s unconstitutional.

Tennessee Republicans moved swiftly in special session to draw new lines that respect constitutional standards while protecting the will of voters across the state.

The new maps are expected to eliminate the lone Democratic U.S. House seat currently held by Rep. Steve Cohen.

Cohen wasted no time firing back, claiming the GOP was “enforc[ing] a racial gerrymander of Memphis.”

“Trump knows he HAS TO rig the game to keep his majority in November. And the TN GOP was willing to go along with it. It’s shameful. Next stop is the courts,” he said.

Republican leaders saw the day very differently. With the new boundaries in place, Tennessee appears headed toward an all-Republican congressional delegation in November.
