FBI Director cracks down on Chinese influence

Safeguarding America’s Breadbasket

FBI Director Kash Patel is zeroing in on a pressing threat: China’s grip on American farmland, a move that fuses food security with the urgent need to protect national interests. With the Trump administration charging into its second term, Patel’s laser focus on curbing Chinese influence—especially near critical sites—signals a no-nonsense stance against the Chinese Communist Party’s foothold on U.S. soil. This isn’t just about crops; it’s about keeping America’s defenses ironclad.

“FBI Director Kash Patel has made eradicating CCP interference and infiltration in the United States a relentless, uncompromising priority,” Patel advisor Erica Knight told Fox News Digital. She highlighted his credentials, saying, “With his unmatched experience in counterterrorism and intelligence, Patel possesses a profound understanding of the grave threats our nation faces.”

Knight added, “His expertise and unwavering resolve make him uniquely equipped to lead the bureau to crush CCP infiltration and safeguard America’s national security.” For Patel, this is war on home turf—and he’s not backing down.

China’s Shadow Over U.S. Soil

The administration’s renewed push comes as Patel recently warned lawmakers that with the southern border now under tighter control, nations like China are pivoting to exploit the northern frontier.

This shift has only sharpened the resolve to tackle China’s land grab head-on. On Thursday, aboard Air Force One, President Trump fielded questions about Chinese-owned farmland, a simmering issue he’s keen to squash. “I’m looking at it all the time,” Trump declared, noting, “It has been an issue for years.”

Even as he touted “a very good relationship with China and with the president,” adding, “I have a lot of respect for President Xi,” Trump’s words carried a steely edge—a reminder that personal rapport won’t soften America’s guard.

The stakes are high: Republican heavyweights and conservative voices argue that CCP-linked land deals aren’t just business—they’re a direct jab at U.S. security, threatening everything from military bases to the food supply chain.

In a February Fox News op-ed, Ric Grenell, Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, sounded the alarm, calling it a “not-so-silent takeover.”

He wrote, “While conservative legislators and governors across the country are taking action to stop adversarial nations from buying U.S. farmland, we must recognize that there’s a much broader issue at play here — China’s end goal is not confined to land ownership.”

Grenell’s words frame China not as a passive player, but a calculated adversary testing America’s resolve.

Locking Down the Homeland

Congress isn’t sitting idle. In early March, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) rolled out the PASS Act, a bipartisan salvo aimed at barring “covered countries”—China chief among them—from snapping up farmland near military installations or other vital spots.

The bill empowers the Department of Agriculture to flag suspect deals to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., putting national security front and center.

Hot on its heels, January saw Republican Sens. Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Kevin Cramer (North Dakota), and Katie Britt (Alabama) unveil the Not One More Inch or Acre Act. This legislation demands that any land tied to or “influenced” by the CCP, deemed a security risk, be sold off—no exceptions.
