Former President Trump in disbelief over the postponement of Alvin Bragg’s hearing

Former President Donald Trump is gearing up for a reelection bid to the Oval Office this fall.

But as he campaigns for the presidency, he has to battle multiple legal issues that have been thrown his way.

Trump claims he’s been deliberately targeted by Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ).

That’s why he’s hoping Republicans in Congress will help him out through investigating those who are launching these legal attacks towards him.

But now Trump just got some news from House Republicans that might shake everything up.

GOP-Led House Judiciary Committee Postpones Alvin Bragg Hearing

The GOP-led House Judiciary Committee has decided to postpone its highly anticipated hearing for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who was scheduled to provide public testimony on the case against former President Donald Trump. This decision follows the recent delay in Trump’s sentencing for the hush money trial until September 18.

According to what a source familiar with the matter told the Washington Examiner, the hearing, initially set for this Friday, will be rescheduled to a later date.

The former president, who faced 34 counts related to payments made during his 2016 presidential campaign, was originally set to be sentenced on July 11.

Trump was found guilty on all counts, which involved falsifying business records to disguise reimbursements to his former lawyer, Michael Cohen.

These payments were made to an adult film star to ensure her silence regarding an alleged affair with Trump, which he has consistently denied.

Adding to the significance of the postponed hearing, Matthew Colangelo, a former top-ranking official in the Biden administration’s Justice Department, was also slated to appear.

Colangelo left the DOJ to join the prosecutorial team handling Trump’s case. As of now, a new date for the hearing has not been scheduled, but it is expected that Bragg’s testimony will not occur until after Trump’s sentencing in September.

Republican members of the Judiciary Committee have expressed concerns regarding Colangelo’s involvement, accusing him of having an “obsession” with targeting Trump for political purposes rather than addressing genuine concerns about crime.

The now-postponed hearing was set to explore “actions by state and local prosecutors to engage politically motivated prosecutions of federal officials.”

In the meantime, the Judiciary Committee will proceed with a separate hearing on Tuesday. This session will scrutinize how the New York County District Attorney’s Office allegedly “weaponized the criminal justice system in pursuit of its perceived political enemy, Donald Trump.”

Scheduled witnesses include Bradley Smith, a professor at Capital University Law School, former judge John Wilson, and Jonathan Fahey, a partner at Holtzman Vogel.

This series of events underscores the heightened political tensions surrounding the legal battles faced by the former president.

As the Judiciary Committee continues its inquiries, the spotlight remains firmly on the intersection of law and politics, with significant implications for both Trump’s legal future and the broader political landscape.
