No matter what side of the political aisle you may be on, it’s obvious that President Joe Biden’s debate performance against Donald Trump on June 27 was a disaster.
Even Democrats on mainstream media networks were dismayed by Biden’s performance.
Biden often times looked weak, frail, and confused during his time on stage against the former president.
The debate has led for calls to examine the president’s health further, as well as the physician who treats him.
And that’s exactly what one Republican congressman intends to do in a new investigation.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Seeks Interview with President Biden’s Physician
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has requested an interview with President Joe Biden’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, amidst rising concerns regarding the president’s age and mental acuity following the Atlanta presidential debate last month.
In a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner, Comer is seeking an interview with Dr. O’Connor and information about his alleged involvement in a defunct healthcare company linked to Biden’s brother, James Biden.
“After a concerning debate performance by President Biden against former President Donald Trump on June 27, journalists have rushed to report on what Americans have seen plainly for years: the President appears unwell,” Comer wrote to O’Connor.
“Americans question President Biden’s ability to lead the country, and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating circumstances surrounding your assessment in February of this year that ‘President Biden is a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old-male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency,'” Comer added.
Comer expressed concerns that Dr. O’Connor’s medical assessments may have been influenced by private business dealings with the Biden family, specifically mentioning the Biden family’s past involvement with the now-bankrupt healthcare company, Americore.
Last year, a bankruptcy trustee testified to the committee that James Biden, the president’s brother, was paid $600,000 by Americore for using the Biden last name to secure funding from the Middle East.
As part of the investigation into the Biden family’s alleged business dealings, Comer has requested Dr. O’Connor to “produce all documents and communications in your possession regarding Americore and James Biden.”
Additionally, the committee seeks to arrange a transcribed interview with House Oversight Committee counsel by July 14.
Following the president’s debate performance, which heightened concerns over his age and mental acuity, the White House confirmed that Biden had a check-up, though details of these checkups remained unclear until Thursday.
During the debate, the Biden campaign announced that the president had been battling a cold.
This request from the House Oversight Committee comes a day after reports indicated that White House visitor logs showed Dr. Kevin Cannard, a Parkinson’s disease expert from Walter Reed Medical Center, had met with O’Connor and two others at the White House residence clinic on January 17. Dr. Cannard has appeared in the visitor logs ten times since November 15, 2022.
