At the end of August, Robert F. Kennedy announced that he would be suspending his campaign and removing his name from the ballots in potential swing states ahead of the November elections. His reasoning was that he did not want to be a spoiler candidate by potentially taking votes away from the candidate he publicly endorsed, Donald Trump.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was able to remove his name from the ballots in Wyoming, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida, but he is running into trouble that’s preventing him from removing his name from ballots on a few other key swing states.
Initially, it appeared as though Robert F. Kennedy would be able to remove his name from the Michigan ballots. That would have been a big development for Donald Trump considering it’s one of the Rust Belt states that can change the entire outcome of the 2024 Presidential election.
The Michigan State Supreme Court has ruled otherwise. According to reports, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled on Monday, September 9th that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. must remain on the ballots in the Glove State.
The state’s High Court decision is a reversal of the lower appellate court decision that would have granted the Kennedy campaign’s request to completely keep him off the ballot before Michigan citizens cast their ballots.
Reuters reports:
The Michigan Supreme Court ruled on Monday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s name will remain as a presidential candidate on the state’s ballots for the Nov. 5 election, despite his request to be removed, in a potential blow to Republican Donald Trump.
The Kennedy campaign criticized the ruling, saying that the state is forcing some Michigan citizens to cast a throw-away vote for someone who has publicly suspended his campaign and asked his supporters to vote for Donald Trump instead.
“This plainly has nothing to do with ballot or election integrity,” the Kennedy legal team said. “The aim is precisely the opposite — to have unwitting Michigan voters throw away their votes on a withdrawn candidate,” they added in response to the Michigan state Supreme Court ruling.
The Michigan state Supreme Court is currently ruled by a 4-3 Democrat-nominated majority. After the ruling, two Republicans on the Court bench released dissenting opinions in which they say they hope the ruling will not have a substantial impact on the outcome of the Presidential election.
“We can only hope that the Secretary’s misguided action — now sanctioned with the imprimatur of this Court — will not have national implications,” the dissenting Michigan Justices had to say in their opinion released to the public.
The Potential Impact On The 2024 Presidential Election
This is a huge development because Michigan with its fifteen electoral votes are going to prove critical for both the Trump campaign and the Harris campaign when the dust settles. There’s fewer paths to victory without the state in the bank.
Donald Trump could win the state of Pennsylvania and its massive nineteen electoral votes and still lose the election if Kamala Harris is able to win Michigan, Georgia, and Wisconsin. That goes to show how big this decision to force Kennedy on the Michigan ballots is.
Robert F. Kennedy himself has reacted to this news saying that all of his supporters should vote for Donald Trump at this point, which is a small change to what he had announced when he originally suspended his campaign and told those in deep blue states to feel free to vote for him.
Bottom line: No matter what state you live in, VOTE TRUMP. A Trump victory is a Kennedy victory. pic.twitter.com/GBn2p2RLnX

This must be appealed to the US Supreme Court!!
Sadly, it seems that political corruption rises even to the Michigan Supreme Court. 😥
