Most Democrats View Socialism Favorably Per a New Poll

New York City just handed the keys to City Hall to Zohran Mamdani, an unapologetic socialist who also happens to be Muslim. This isn’t some fringe upset—it’s a wake-up call blaring from the streets of one of America’s greatest cities, showing how far the radical left has pulled the Democratic Party into the abyss. While everyday Americans scrape by, paying through the nose for basics, these ideologues dream of government-run everything, starting with the corner store.

A fresh poll from the Economist/YouGov, snapped right after Mamdani’s win, cuts straight to the chase on how folks feel about this poison. They asked a simple question nationwide: “Do you have a favorable or an unfavorable opinion of socialism?” The answer? Regular Americans—44 percent—want no part of it, calling it unfavorable. Just 33 percent give it a thumbs up, with another 23 percent scratching their heads, unsure what to make of the mess.

Dig deeper, and the divide looks like a wide chasm. Republicans are making their thoughts clear: 70 percent slam socialism as unfavorable, while a measly 13 percent warm to it.

Independents lean the same way: A solid 44 percent view socialism unfavorably, outpacing the 27 percent who like the sound of it.

But a whopping 62 percent of Democrats hold a favorable view of socialism—16 percent calling it “very” favorable, and 47 percent going with “somewhat.” Only 16 percent dare to say unfavorable, leaving 22 percent in the “not sure” camp.

The numbers get even starker when you slice it by last year’s election. Among those who pulled the lever for Kamala Harris in 2024, 61 percent now cheer for socialism.

Flip to Trump supporters, and it’s night and day: Just 13 percent favor socialism, with 75 percent rejecting it outright.

This poll took place between November 7-10, pulling in 1,663 voices from coast to coast, with a margin of error at plus or minus 3.5 percent. It lands smack in the middle of Democrats caving to their wild-eyed wing, the same crew that sparked the longest government shutdown in American history.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) nailed it during the shutdown chaos, firing off a truth bomb that still echoes. “We say all the time, this is not your father’s party. It’s not. These guys are full Marxist,” he declared, laying bare the takeover.

Johnson didn’t stop there, ripping into the emptiness at the core of it all. “You hear how vapid their ideology is, how empty, what empty suits they are. But they are the leaders of the party,” he said.

“They are dragging the rest of the old guard, the old party leaders, around by the nose, and they are subservient to their wishes.”

The Empire State just proved Johnson’s point in living color by electing Mamdani as mayor. President Donald Trump, ever the straight shooter, didn’t sugarcoat the fallout from Mamdani’s victory.

“After last night’s results, the decision facing all Americans could not be more clear. We have a choice between communism and common sense,” the president said.

“And you know, you take a look, look back 1000 years, [communism] hasn’t worked,” he added. “If it worked, we’d be using it, I guess. But it hasn’t worked. Our opponents are offering an economic nightmare. We’re delivering an economic miracle.”
