The Department of Justice has launched a full-blown corruption investigation into Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser. Why? Because she and her cronies got caught taking a sweetheart $62,000 private jet ride courtesy of the Qatari government.
This isn’t some innocent vacation. The probe kicked off after brave local reporters at WJLA blew the lid off Bowser’s secret luxury trip to Doha in 2023. Qatar footed the bill for flights costing a whopping $61,930. And get this: right after partying in Qatar, Bowser’s crew hopped over to Dubai for a conference about climate change.
Bowser’s team is scrambling like rats off a sinking ship. They swear up and down they’ve never been notified of any probe. “We have checked with our lawyers, and the District has not been notified of any investigation,” her office whined to Newsweek.
Her office added this gem: “In some cases, economic development funds are used for the business travel; in other cases, the host or organizer cover the expenses.”
What really stinks is Bowser’s sloppy cover-up. WJLA dug deep and found she kept terrible records of this Qatar boondoggle – and trips all over the U.S. and abroad. D.C. law demands a clear donation agreement for gifts like this. Guess what? At first, there was zero record of any deal with Qatar.
When reporters first pressed her team, they lied outright. Bowser’s flunkies claimed the trip was paid for by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce. Wrong.
Then they switched stories, saying it was the U.S. Conference of Mayors picking up the tab. Strike two. Only after WJLA filed open records requests did the truth spill out: Qatar’s government was bankrolling the whole thing.
This is peak elitist behavior. Qatar isn’t some charity – it’s a regime with deep pockets and deeper agendas, funneling money to American politicians to buy favor.
Remember, this happened in 2023, smack in the middle of D.C.’s skyrocketing crime wave. Homicides up, carjackings everywhere, families fleeing the city. But Bowser? She’s too busy sipping champagne at 30,000 feet, paid for by a country that funds Hamas and treats women like second-class citizens.
The DOJ doesn’t launch corruption probes for fun. They smell blood in the water – potential violations of laws against foreign influence and undeclared gifts.
Bowser’s office claims all “proper paperwork for this standard donation is on file,” according to The New York Times. Standard? Since when is Qatar handing out free flights “standard” for American mayors?
Career politicians like Bowser think they’re above the law, grifting off foreign despots while our borders are sieged and our cities burn. She’s been in power since 2015, lording over a one-party Democrat machine that’s turned D.C. into a crime-ridden joke.
How many more secret trips has she taken? How much Qatari cash has flowed into her circle? Americans deserve answers, not excuses. The fact that her office only fessed up after getting caught red-handed shows they’re guilty as sin.
