Pennsylvania Democrats vote to count illegal ballots in crucial Senate recount

The U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania between David McCormick and Bob Casey has already been called for McCormick by several news outlets including the Associated Press. McCormick even attended a Senate orientation in Washington, D.C. earlier this week.

But Casey is refusing to concede and certainly doesn’t plan to do so now that there will officially be a recount. And while McCormick is confident he’ll win despite the recount, that confidence is likely to dip after Democrat commissioners in Bucks County, Pennsylvania just voted to allow illegal ballots to be counted in the recount.

Ballots With Improper Signatures And Other Errors To Be Counted In PA Senate Race Recount

In a controversial move, the Bucks County Board of Commissioners voted to count ballots lacking required signatures, a decision that directly contravenes a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling issued earlier this year. The three-member board voted two-to-one in favor of including these ballots in the Senate race recount.

Diane Marseglia, one of the commissioners, justified her vote, stating, “I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country, and people violate laws anytime they want. So for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention to it.”

Joining Marseglia in the decision was Board Chairman Robert Harvie, Jr., who also supported counting ballots signed in one section but not another. Democrats argued that poll workers were to blame for the issue, asserting they had failed to double-check provisional ballots during the voting process. The board’s legal advisors had recommended against counting the ballots, citing the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s clear stance on the requirement for proper signatures. Approximately 124 ballots were flagged for lacking the necessary signatures.

The contentious recount stems from a razor-thin margin in the Senate race. Republican Senator-elect David McCormick secured 48.93% of the vote, while Democratic incumbent Bob Casey garnered 48.50%, triggering the recount process.

As of Wednesday, about 80,000 ballots remained to be counted, including 20,000 mail-in and absentee ballots, and roughly 60,000 provisional ballots. Counties are required to begin their recounts by November 20 and submit results by November 27. Casey, a three-term senator, has yet to concede the race.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia City Commissioners also opted to count a limited number of undated and incorrectly dated mail-in ballots. In a statement to Fox News, they noted, “Republicans filed a petition to the PA Supreme Court against all counties to attempt to stop all counties from counting these ballots. They also filed a statutory appeal challenging Bucks County’s decision to count undated and incorrectly dated mail ballots. We are reviewing the filings.”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has condemned these decisions as “ridiculous” and filed two lawsuits against Bucks County and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to halt the inclusion of unsigned and undated ballots. An RNC official expressed frustration over the board’s actions, stating, “The court just ruled on this two weeks ago. And it’s just very clear to us that Democrat lawyers and officials see a way to kind of make money off of Bob Casey by trying out this process, but Dave McCormick is already in D.C. to attend Senate orientation.”

Without including McCormick’s seat, Republicans currently hold a 52-47 majority in the Senate. And while that’s still a majority, it’s a slim majority and the GOP exited the 2024 elections thinking that they had at least 53 seats. Now that 53rd seat might be in limbo thanks to the counting of ballots that should frankly be tossed out for having errors.

The United States of America is far too advanced as a nation to have ballot counting issues like the ones we’re seeing in Pennsylvania. The ballots should have been discarded once the errors were originally discovered. And since they weren’t discovered, there’s no way they should be counted either. No matter what side of the aisle you’re on, most everyone can agree that our nation’s elections need to be secured better.

What do you think of the recount in Pennsylvania? Should those illegal ballots be counted based off the Democrat commissioners’ reasonings? As always, let us know down in the comments below!

It does not matter, the Pennsylvania voters board do not care for a PA Supreme Court ruling; like Biden, they do what they want and to hell with the courts; They will do as they want and to hell what the court says, I thought that the courts were the check and balance on EVERYBODY, well, I think I was wrong all the time and in reality we live in a Banana Republic and …..like the saying says “it is what it is” right?

The ballots should have been left out if they were disqualified. There’s no way this should be happening. In my opinion the Democrats are, overall behaving like spoiled children. Since when did it become OK to break the law because you can’t get your way.
When is Justice REALLY going to be served to the Deep State?!

If Pennsylvania law dictates that the ballots in question should not be counted then these commissioners should be held accountable and prosecuted for knowingly and willfully violating the law.

What is with our state? What the court says and the law of land, does not matter? Then the next question is “why have elections”? This nonsense of counting votes weeks after election day is simply outrageous. We all had several days in which to vote, also allowed to absentee our ballots. So is it that our people can’t count? Or why do some states as large as ours, get their count on election night and we need to wait weeks? Must fix this!

When a district or State decides to allow unconfirmed ballots &/or non Citizen ballots to be counted in a Federal Election, there should be a rule that the district or State defying the Constitution stating that ONLY CITIZENS VOTE IN FEDERAL ELECTIONS, their totals should be withheld or declared INVALID.
