During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s Hannity this Tuesday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz didn’t hold back when dissecting President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. He zeroed in on the stone-cold reactions from Democrats, painting a picture of a party that’s turned its back on everyday Americans.
Cruz pulled no punches, declaring that the opposition’s behavior exposed their true colors. He argued that their refusal to applaud even the biggest wins for the country showed a deep-seated disdain for success under Trump.
“The Democrat Party has lost their minds,” Cruz fired off, capturing the frustration many feel watching the left’s antics.
He went on to describe a moment where Trump seemed to glance at the Democrats and think they were out of their heads. Cruz emphasized that this wasn’t just politics as usual – it was something darker.
“At one point, he looks over and says, these people are crazy. And fundamentally, they’re rooting against America. I mean, that’s what’s infuriating,” Cruz said, driving home the point that the Democrats’ hostility runs deep.
Drawing from his own experience, Cruz noted he’s attended 14 State of the Union addresses, including those under Obama and Biden. He recalled standing and cheering for policies that benefited the nation, no matter who was in charge.
“I’ve been to 14 State of the Union Addresses. I’ve been there with Barack Obama four times. I’ve been there with Joe Biden four times, or at least two of them. I’m not sure he was there. But listen, when they said things that were good for America, I stood up and cheered,” he explained.
But this time, Democrats couldn’t even muster basic courtesy. Cruz slammed them for sitting silent as Trump entered the House chamber, calling it a display of pure spite.
“Almost every Democrat refused to cheer even when President Trump walked in on the floor of the House, because they’re just a party of anger and rage,” Cruz continued.
He likened their outbursts to immature protesters on a college campus, refusing to act with any sense of decorum during such a pivotal national event.
“And they behave like little Marxist college students, heckling the president. They can’t actually behave like mature adults,” he added, highlighting the contrast between Republican patriotism and Democratic disruption.
Cruz spotlighted a key moment in the speech where Trump challenged everyone to stand if they believed in putting American citizens first over illegal immigrants. The Democrats’ refusal to budge spoke volumes.
“I thought the moment where he said, stand if you agree with this, that your first duty is to protect American citizens and not illegal aliens. And the Democrats sat in silence,” Cruz recounted.
This silence, according to Cruz, handed Republicans ready-made campaign material. It laid bare the Democrats’ priorities, favoring outsiders over hardworking families here at home.
“They made clear look — as the speaker just said, the campaign ads right themselves, the Democrats are for illegals and not you. And they were given the chance to say, who are you fighting for? Americans or illegals? And they are the party of illegals,” he stated.
Cruz didn’t stop there, accusing Democrats of siding with the worst elements crossing the border, letting dangerous criminals roam free instead of enforcing the law.
“They’re the party of m*rderers and gang bangers and r*pists because they let them go. They oppose arresting them. They oppose deporting them,” Cruz charged.
Even when Trump touted a major drop in drug overdose deaths – a 20% reduction under his watch – the Democrats remained unmoved, their faces like masks.
“They can’t even cheer that drug overdose deaths have dropped 20% under President Trump. They’re just stone-faced because successes are counter to their narrative,” he concluded.
This episode, as Cruz sees it, cements the divide: Republicans fighting for America’s triumphs, while Democrats cling to failure to push their agenda. It’s a wake-up call for voters tired of the left’s endless negativity.
