Trump’s DEA Delivers: Massive Blow to Sinaloa Cartel
Under President Donald Trump’s bold leadership, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched a powerhouse operation from August 25 to 29, targeting the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the world’s most ruthless drug trafficking organizations.
The week-long surge across all 23 DEA divisions resulted in 617 arrests, crippling the cartel’s deadly operations.
Trump’s February 2025 designation of the Sinaloa Cartel as a foreign terrorist organization empowered this aggressive crackdown, showcasing his commitment to safeguarding American lives.
“These results demonstrate the full weight of DEA’s commitment to protecting the American people,” said DEA Administrator Terrance Cole. “Every kilogram of poison seized, every dollar stripped from the cartels, and every arrest we make represents lives saved and communities defended.
DEA will not relent until the Sinaloa Cartel is dismantled from top to bottom.” This operation marks a triumphant step in Trump’s mission to secure the nation and restore safety to American communities.
Seizing Poison, Saving Lives: A Historic Haul
The DEA’s operation struck at the heart of the Sinaloa Cartel’s illicit empire, seizing 480 kilograms of fentanyl powder—enough to k*ll millions—along with 714,707 counterfeit pills, 2,209 kilograms of methamphetamine, 7,469 kilograms of cocaine, and 16.55 kilograms of heroin.
Additionally, agents confiscated 420 firearms and over $12.6 million in cash and assets, starving the cartel of resources used to flood U.S. streets with deadly drugs.
The Sinaloa Cartel, operating in at least 40 countries, has “tens of thousands of members” responsible for producing and distributing these synthetic poisons, according to the DEA.
This massive haul, one of the largest in agency history, reflects Trump’s unwavering resolve to combat the fentanyl crisis, which claims over 70,000 American lives annually, per CDC data. By targeting the cartel’s supply chains, the DEA is delivering on Trump’s promise to put America first and protect its citizens from transnational crime.
Border Security and Beyond: Trump’s Vision in Action
The operation aligns with Trump’s strategy to fortify U.S. border security and root out criminal illegal aliens, a priority championed by border czar Tom Homan.
Homan revealed that 70% of illegal aliens arrested under Trump’s policies are criminals, with the remaining 30% being gang members posing significant national security threats.
With approximately 600,000 criminal illegal aliens and 1.4 million with final removal orders still in the U.S., Trump’s administration is intensifying efforts to deport these threats.
The DEA’s collaboration with the Homeland Security Task Force and other federal partners ensures a unified front against the Sinaloa Cartel and other terrorist organizations, as Trump’s Executive Order 14157 drives a whole-of-government approach to dismantle transnational crime.
By prioritizing American safety and prosperity, Trump’s leadership is restoring law and order, ensuring communities are shielded from the cartel’s deadly grip and illegal immigration’s fallout.
