Trump Stands Up to UN’s Anti-American Human Rights Farce

President Donald Trump’s administration has taken a stand against the United Nations’ globalist agenda, refusing to participate in the UN Human Rights Council’s (HRC) review of America’s human rights record. This move is a clear rejection of the UN’s hypocritical and anti-American posturing, doubling down on Trump’s commitment to putting America first.

A State Department official, as reported by The Hill, declared that the U.S. will not engage in the HRC’s review, slamming the council for its “persistent failure to condemn the most egregious human rights violators.” The official minced no words, stating that the U.S. will not be lectured about human rights by countries like China, Sudan, or Venezuela—nations notorious for their own abysmal human rights records.

This decision follows Trump’s earlier executive order in February, withdrawing the U.S. from the HRC entirely, a move that reaffirmed his disdain for globalist institutions that undermine American sovereignty.

The UN’s Human Rights Council has long been a stage for anti-American and anti-Israel bias. Critics, including Trump’s former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, have called it a “cesspool of political bias” that disproportionately targets Israel while giving a free pass to dictatorships like China and Iran.

In 2018, during Trump’s first term, the U.S. exited the HRC for these very reasons, with Haley and then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasting the council for shielding human rights abusers. The Biden administration rejoined in 2021, only for Trump to pull out again in 2025, signaling a return to his America First doctrine.

Trump’s latest actions go beyond the HRC. On February 4, he signed an executive order not only withdrawing from the HRC but also cutting funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which aids Palestinians. The White House cited UNRWA’s alleged ties to Hamas and its role in perpetuating anti-Israel sentiment.

This order also called for a review of U.S. involvement in UNESCO and other UN bodies, accusing them of “anti-American bias.” Trump himself told reporters, “It’s not being well run, to be honest and they’re not doing the job,” emphasizing that the UN fails to resolve global conflicts while burdening the U.S. with an unfair share of funding—22% of the UN’s budget comes from American taxpayers.

The HRC’s spokesperson confirmed they were informed of the U.S. decision, stating, “The Bureau of the Human Rights Council (its President and four Vice Presidents) will discuss this matter at its earliest convenience. This is a matter for the 47 member states of the Human Rights Council to consider at a later stage.”

Meanwhile, human rights groups like Amnesty International have cried foul, with Amanda Klasing calling the withdrawal “performative” and a “blatant disregard for human rights.” But for many Americans, these criticisms ring hollow when the HRC allows countries like China—accused of genocide against Uyghurs—and Sudan, plagued by ongoing violence, to sit in judgment of the U.S.

His administration has also withdrawn from the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement, moves that echo his first term’s exit from these bodies. These actions resonate with populist voters who see the UN as an unaccountable bureaucracy that pushes agendas contrary to American interests. The U.S., as the world’s leading defender of freedom, doesn’t need lectures from globalist elites or rogue regimes.

By pulling out of the HRC and defunding UNRWA, Trump is sending a clear message that America will not bow to international organizations that criticize it while ignoring the world’s worst tyrants. His supporters see this as a patriotic stand, reclaiming U.S. independence from a UN that’s more interested in vilifying America and its allies than upholding true human rights.

We need to leave the UN. It is controlled by people we would not invite the the neighbor’s party.

The UN continues its anti-US bias while enjoying US taxpayer dollars. Globalists have long taken advantage of US generosity while disparaging our policies, and values. President Trump refuses to allow this to continue. Accountability is a hard master!

It is right to leave the UN. The only thing they want is our money, and they don’t deserve any of it.
