Across the United States, a significant number of Americans have voiced unease about transgender women competing in women’s sports. Polls consistently show that a majority believe biological males should not participate in female athletics, citing concerns about fairness and physical advantages.
This sentiment grows even stronger when it comes to parents, many of whom are adamant that their daughters should not have to compete against athletes who were born male. The issue has caused families and advocates to argue that allowing biological males in women’s sports risks diminishing opportunities and achievements for female athletes. These concerns have now found a powerful ally in the Trump White House, which has taken decisive steps to address the issue head-on.
Trump Administration Secures Landmark Agreement
The Trump administration has brokered a groundbreaking deal with the University of Pennsylvania, compelling the institution to revoke titles won by trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas on the women’s team, according to information obtained by The Daily Wire. This agreement marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing national conversation about fairness in women’s athletics.
Under the terms of this historic accord, the University of Pennsylvania has committed to restoring all titles “misappropriated” by male athletes to their rightful female recipients, a White House official revealed to The Daily Wire. The move is seen as a direct response to years of controversy, particularly surrounding Thomas, who gained national attention after tying with University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines at the 2022 NCAA championships and claiming her trophy. Gaines has since become a vocal advocate for protecting women’s sports, using her platform to highlight the challenges faced by female athletes competing against biological males.
UPenn has agreed to right its wrongs, restore records to the rightful female athletes, and issue an apology to the women impacted by the man they allowed to compete as a woman.

“President Trump has been one of the strongest and most consistent champions for protecting women’s sports,” the White House official stated. The administration’s efforts include a series of executive orders, public statements, and policy initiatives aimed at reinforcing a clear stance: men do not belong in women’s sports. This agreement with the University of Pennsylvania is a tangible outcome of those efforts, setting a precedent for other institutions to follow.
The official also criticized the University of Pennsylvania for its past practices, accusing the institution of repeatedly violating Title IX, the federal law that prohibits s*x discrimination in schools receiving federal funding. “In stark contrast, the University of Pennsylvania has repeatedly violated the spirit and letter of Title IX by allowing biological males to compete in women’s athletic programs — undermining decades of progress and the hard-earned achievements of female athletes,” the official said.
As part of the agreement, the university has pledged to align with Title IX by adopting “biology-based definitions” for “male” and “female” in compliance with Trump’s executive orders. This means barring males from competing in women’s sports or using women’s “intimate facilities.”

Additionally, the university will issue a “personalized letter of apology to each impacted female swimmer,” acknowledging the unfairness they faced. Riley Gaines, who spoke at a White House event celebrating the agreement alongside other affected female athletes, is among those who may receive such a letter.
The ripple effects of this deal extend beyond Pennsylvania. Following Trump’s inauguration, the NCAA, which oversees sports for over half a million college athletes, revised its transgender athlete policy to “limit competition in women’s sports to student-athletes assigned female at birth only.”
Yet, challenges remain, as the Trump administration continues to confront several blue states that permit trans-identifying males to compete in women’s sports. Just last week, the Department of Education declared California in violation of Title IX for allowing such practices, issuing a 10-day ultimatum to comply or risk losing federal funding.
