A revealing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) report emphasizes the monumental challenge President Donald Trump faces in undoing the Biden administration’s border policies, with only 1% of 2,572 illegal immigrants caught and released in a May 2023 test case having left the U.S. two years later.
This data, from a group paroled after the Biden administration’s chaotic termination of the Title 42 pandemic border policy, highlights the Trump administration’s urgent mission to restore America’s sovereignty.
Under Trump’s leadership, border encounters have plummeted by 45% compared to Biden’s peak in 2023, and releases of illegal immigrants into the U.S. have dropped significantly, with ICE now prioritizing swift deportations over catch-and-release.
Only 28 of the 2,572 migrants in the test case are confirmed to have left, leaving nearly 99% potentially still in the country, a stark reminder of the need for Trump’s robust enforcement to protect America’s borders and uphold its laws.
Exposing the Biden Administration’s Border Failures
The test case, ordered by U.S. District Judge T. Kent Wetherell II after the Biden administration defied court mandates, exposes the fallout from lax policies that allowed 2,572 migrants to be paroled without proper oversight.
Of these, 23 never checked in with ICE, and 336—13%—still lack a Notice to Appear (NTA) for deportation proceedings, meaning they remain in the U.S. without formal legal accountability despite their illegal entry.
Venezuelans (559) and Colombians (429) dominate the group, with Peruvians (353) also significant, reflecting the diverse influx enabled by Biden’s policies.
Andrew “Art” Arthur, a former immigration judge, described the situation as “a case study in how difficult it’s going to be,” emphasizing, “I don’t think the American people appreciate just how big a hole the Biden administration dug for Trump and any future president.”
In contrast, Trump’s policies have slashed border releases by prioritizing detention and rapid deportation, reducing the backlog of unprocessed cases.
Championing a Secure and Prosperous America
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under Trump’s direction, is aggressively dismantling Biden-era programs that facilitated unchecked immigration, such as the Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela parole initiative, which admitted over 500,000 unauthorized immigrants.
DHS has issued termination notices, offering a free flight and $1,000 for voluntary departure, with a clear ultimatum: “We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right and legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.”
Trump’s administration has also implemented advanced border technologies and increased ICE resources, contributing to a 60% drop in illegal crossings at key sectors compared to 2023.
