Florida’s Fight for Freedom: DeSantis and Ladapo Slam Vaccine Mandates

Florida is planting its flag in the battle for personal liberty, with Governor Ron DeSantis and State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo leading a charge to wipe out every vaccine mandate in the state’s laws. This isn’t just a policy tweak—it’s a stand against government overreach, a middle finger to the elites who think they can control what goes into your body. In a time when trust in institutions is crumbling, Florida is stepping up to defend the God-given rights of its people.

“Trust has really been broken,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared this week, throwing his full support behind Ladapo’s plan to end all vaccine mandates. The move comes after years of heavy-handed policies that have left Americans fed up with being told what to do. From COVID lockdowns to forced shots, the people have had enough, and Florida is listening.

Last week, Ladapo took the stage to a roaring crowd, announcing that Florida is “going to be working to end all vaccine mandates in Florida law.” He didn’t hold back, declaring, “Every last one of them is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery.”

“Who am I as a government or anyone else, or who am I as a man standing here now to tell you what you should put in your body?” Ladapo said. “Who am I to tell you what your child should put in your body? I don’t have that right.”

“Your body is a gift from God,” Ladapo continued, grounding his stance in a truth that hits home for millions. “What you put into your body… is because of your relationship with your body and your God. I don’t have that right. Government does not have that right.” It’s a powerful reminder that our freedoms don’t come from some pencil-pusher in a government office—they come from something higher.

Ladapo didn’t stop there. He called out the elites who’ve spent years convincing people they have the power to dictate medical choices. “They want you to believe they have that right, and unfortunately, they’ve been successful,” he said. But Florida is done with that game. No more mandates. No more coercion. Just freedom to make your own call

DeSantis, never one to back down, brought his signature common sense to the fight. He pointed to the absurdity of the CDC move to add the COVID mRNA shot to the childhood immunization schedule while Biden was in office. “The problem with that is that there was not a scientific basis to do that,” he said. “They’re doing it … and parents have rebelled. The vast, vast majority of parents do not do the COVID shot for that.”

The governor got real about the ridiculous rules that punish families for making their own choices. “But what really bugs me, because I think the schools — there’s exemptions, and so I actually don’t think the outcome would be much different at all,” DeSantis said. “But I think on some of these other things, where you can be turned away from a doctor’s office if what? Your six-year-old didn’t take a hepatitis B shot. You know, that’s a s*xually transmitted disease — like sitting in a classroom in kindergarten, I think the chance of contracting hep B is probably pretty low based on how it’s contracted.”

Think about that: a kindergartner being denied medical care because they didn’t get a shot for a disease they’re not at risk for in a classroom. It’s insanity. DeSantis also highlighted cases where people were refused surgeries for not having the “right” vaccines. “That’s really weaponizing this against people, imposing bad consequences on them just because the parent may have made a decision on one of those things,” he stated.

This fight is about power—who has it and who doesn’t. Florida’s leadership is saying loud and clear: the power belongs to the people, not the government. Mandates aren’t just about vaccines; they’re about control. When a parent can’t opt out without their kid being kicked out of school or a doctor’s office, that’s not freedom—that’s a system rigged to keep you in line.

DeSantis also shut down the critics trying to twist Ladapo’s words. “I saw a lot of stuff over there, ‘The surgeon general Florida is taking away vaccine.’ He never said anything,” DeSantis said. “He never said that there wouldn’t be any availability. Obviously, that’s not his position.” Let’s be clear: this isn’t about banning vaccines. It’s about banning the government from forcing you to take them. You want a shot? Go for it. But don’t shove it down everyone else’s throats.

Ladapo’s been a warrior in this fight from the start. When the COVID hysteria had everyone else pushing lockdowns and masking kids, he stood his ground. “He was pilloried for that,” DeSantis said, and yet Ladapo’s been proven right. The lockdowns were a disaster, and forcing kids to wear masks did more harm than good. Florida’s surgeon general was the voice of reason when the world went mad.

This push to end mandates is just the latest chapter in that fight. It’s about trusting people to make their own decisions, not treating them like cattle. “I think his position is that if you provide information and persuasion, that’s better than coercion,” DeSantis said. That’s what real leadership looks like—treating people like adults, not subjects.

Florida’s stand is a wake-up call for every American who’s sick of being bossed around. It’s a reminder that our rights don’t come from Washington or some unelected health official—they come from God. DeSantis and Ladapo are fighting to take that power back, to give parents and individuals the freedom to choose what’s best for them and their families.
